QUALITY INSIGHT / QUALITY PRODUCTION
The Importance of the DUPRO Inspection Process
What is a “During Production (DUPRO) Inspection”?
A DUPRO inspection is conducted on-site when 20-80% of your production is completed and prepared for shipping. The purpose of a DUPRO is to ensure that your factory is adhering to your original specifications agreed upon and is maintaining the production schedule.
Production Timeline:
5-30% Initial Product Check (IPC) can be completed to identify quality issues early in the production process while raw materials are being procured and prepared etc.
30%-80% During Production Inspection (DUPRO) can be conducted to follow-up to rectify any issues and give enough time to problem solve and rectify in a timely manner before the order is complete to ship.
80%-100% Pre-Shipment Inspection ensures that the quality for the entire production lot meets the quality and required standards for the entire production before the goods are exported from factory.
“…prevent costly mistakes by identifying issues before production completion…”
Why perform a DUPRO inspection?
It allows the customer to have visibility to prevent costly mistakes by identifying issues before production completion. It will enable one to detect delays in final product delivery and ensure adherence to specifications, thus minimizing expensive corrections. However, this process does allow for time to address any issues found so that the manufacturing process can be adjusted and corrections can be made before goods leave the factory.
What checks are carried out?
Initially, a sample of products from completed production batches is randomly selected for inspection based on the ANSI/ASQ Standard.
The inspection checklist is customized to meet client requirements and includes checks such as:
Production status - Are we tracking on time for our order?
Production capacity estimate
Checking quantities of semi-finished products
Checking finished products along with goods that have been packed
Order completion date and timing
Product specifications – Are the goods meeting requirements based on specs and order details?
Quantities
Colors
Style
Construction & Dimensions
Artwork & labels
Packing – Are the goods being packed properly to ensure safe transport and delivery of products to the customer?
Observing unit packaging
Inner and outer packing
Master carton dimensions and weights
Carton Markings
What happens after a DUPRO is completed?
After a DUPRO inspection is completed, a detailed report outlining the inspection findings is provided to the client outlining findings and any defects found, with an overall pass/fail outcome.
This report typically includes information such as any defects found, the overall quality of the products inspected, and whether they meet the required specifications. Based on the inspection results, the client can then decide on any necessary corrective actions, adjustments to the manufacturing process, or next steps in the production timeline.
